Fairs and Festivals in Mizoram
- Chapchar Kut (March) :- The spring festival is the most important in Mizoram. When the festival comes, people of all ages, men and women, dressed themselves in these traditional and colourful costumes and wore exotic headgears and jewelleries to assemble and perform various folk dances.
- Mim Kut and Pawl Kut (November/December) :- This festival is also part of the tourist season. It is celebrated for the completion of the harvesting season. During these festivals, the various folk dances, exulting songs and energetic games are performed. When the festival takes place, the entire community also joins in with great enthusiasm, joy and feasting.
- Thalfavang Kut (November) :- When the people of Mizoram complete the process of weeding of the field and prepare for the forthcoming harvest, the Thalfavang Kut festival takes place.
- Christmas (December) :- Here Christmas is celebrated for three days starting from 24th till 26th of December. The majority of the population is Christian, so Christmas is one of the most important events of the Mizos.
Places Of Interest in Mizoram :
- Folklore Comes Alive:-The places of interest to visitors may be categorised under four principal heads: Natural lakes, Peaks, Flora and fauna and sites of historical significance.
- Phawngui - The Blue Mountain:-"Phawngui" or the Blue Mountain, the highest mountain peak in Mizoram, is considered the abode of gods to whom annual sacrifices are offered. On the peak, there is a level ground about 200 hectares which is surrounded by matted bamboo groves,
- Cave:-Pukzing Cave about 25-km wide is the biggest cave said to have been carved out using a hairpin by a sturdy man called "Mualzavata". Lamail Puk is another cave, the site of a war between two villages.
National Parks & Wild Life Sanctuary in Mizoram
- Ngenpui Wildlife Sanctuary :- The Ngengpui Wildlife Sanctuary is situated in the Lawngtlai District in the south-western part of Mizoram
- Lengteng Wildlife Sanctuary :- The Lengteng Wildlife Sanctuary is situated in the eastern part of Mizoram adjacent to Murlen National Park.
- Thorangtlang Wildlife Sanctuary :- The Thorangtlang Wildlife Sanctuary is situated about 240 km from Aizawl in the Western Part of Mizoram and very close to Dampa sanctuary.
- Palak Wildlife sanctuary :- Palak Wildlife sanctuary lies in the in Saiha District in the southern part of Mizoram. The sanctuary covers an area of around 15.5 square km. Elephant, wild boar and varieties of birds found in this sanctuary.
- Dampa Wildlife Sanctuary :- Dampa Wildlife Sanctuary is located at the tri-junction of Bangladesh, Tripura and Mizoram. Dampa Wildlife Sanctuary is the oldest and the largest wildlife sanctuary in Mizoram.
- Murlen National Park :- The Murlen National Park is situated about 245 km east of Aizawl and close to the Myanmar border.
- Phawngpui National Park :- The Phawngpui National Park is situated in South Eastern Mizoram close to the Myanmar border. The highest peak in Mizoram, the Phawngpui (2360 m) is located within this Park.
